Undead Pirate Haunted House Room: The Pirate Light
The pirate light was sort of a list-minute thing. I had originally planned to use my two blue pin spots to accent the prisoner and the drunken pirate. However, while wandering around Big Lots (of all places), I spotted this little cage thing with a little plastic skull hanging on a black chain inside. "What better thing to use to light the prisoners cage?" I thought.
I found a candelabra for cheap at Big Lots as well, so I bought it with the intent of drilling a hole in the little skull and working up a 'candle in skull' type thing. Add a black plant hanging hook (from Lowe's - it cost more than the skull and candle combined), an old black electrical cord and Viola! An appropriate pirate skull light.
There aren't any production photos of this thing because it never occurred to me to take any - it was so simple to make. I simply measured the candle diameter and drilled the correct-sized hole. Drilled another little hole to feed the candle's power cord into and used wire nuts to connect it to the existing white candle power cord, popped the candle in and sealed it it by dripping wax around the base. Pretty simple.
Odd that the skull's recessed features look grey here. They didn't look that way in the haunt.
