Haunted House Art HEDZ Horror Props Costumes

Brain Sit
".. what we want is, I think, what everyone wants, and what you and
your viewers have: civilization. The niceties... The fine points...
Diplomacy. Compassion. Standards, manners, tradition. That's what we're
reaching for. Oh, we may stumble along the way, but-civilization, yes!
The Geneva Convention. Chamber music. Susan Sontag....  Everything your
society has worked so hard to accomplish over the centuries...that's what
we aspire to. We want to be civilized. I mean, you take a look at this
fellow here...*shoots gremlin* Now, was that civilized? No, clearly not.
Fun, but in no sense civilized. Now bear in mind, none of us has been
in New York before. There are the Broadway shows...we'll have to find
how to get tickets. There's also a lot of street crime, but I believe we
can watch the for free. We want the essentials. Dinettes.
Complete bedroom groups. Convenient credit, even if we've
been turned down in the past...
Welcome to my piece of the web! I think every good work should start with an appropriate quote. Since this isn't good work, I've started with the quote you see over there under the effigy of the Brain Gremlin.

On this page you'll find various crimes against the arts including my attempts at drawing, photos of the scant few finished rooms in my house - which is actually a giant art project, artwork done for local Haunted Houses, props I've created and cheerfully attempted to unleash upon the Halloween consumer market, stuff I have found that interests me and needs to be placed somewhere as well as photos of things that have nothing to do with anything else but that I find appealing. (Now try and say all that in one breath.)

You'll also find run-on sentences and language which certainly doesn't remind you of something of which your fifth grade English teacher would approve. Think of it as creative license if it makes you happy. Or poorly written colloquialism if it doesn't. Or just don't think about it at all.

You may wonder about all the Brain Gremlin stuff on this page- as well you should. I have always liked this character (from the movie Gremlins 2: The New Batch. (This movie is far superior to the original IMO, although purists whine that the 180 degree switch in tone - from horror to horror comedy - is unsettling. But what do they know?) He embodies all the worst traits of an intellectual, which I appreciate.

Anyhow, after years of making Halloween props in the 90s, it occurred to me that I should create a paean to my favorite character by creating a life-sized action figure. I found a resin model of a gremlin on eBay, bought it and then did very little when I realized I knew almost nothing about working with resin models and had little interest in learning. Through pirate reenacting (which is not discussed on this page - you have to go to my sister page - The Pirate Surgeon's Journals - to learn about that), I met Dan Needham who was scratch-building models for fun. I asked him if he wanted a challenge. He did. So he built and painted my Brain gremlin. Then it broke - twice. For more on the full account of the Brain Gremlin model, follow this link.
