Pirates in Paradise 2007 - Key West, Fl

Mission the surgeon at his work.
Being an account of the adventures of the good surgeon Mission who was captured and pressed into service by pyrates aboard the vessel named Mercury where he was forced to bleed them all frequently and incessantly due to various venereal viruses and treat them regularly with mercury as is prescribed by John Woodall in the surgions mate. Focusing primarily upon the stop in the careening camp near Fort Taylor, Key West during the Pirates in Paradise Festival in the year of our Lord 1720 (or 2007, depending on who you ask.)

Chapter 1st - Preparation - An account of the particulars of the arrival of the pyrates to Fort Taylor; the setting up of their camp; and plan for the future Pirates in Paradise event.

November 27, 2007, PM I helped scout the Mercury/Archangel camps in the park at Fort Jefferson with William Red Wake from the pyracy pub. It's a cool site for camping. Scattered leaning Australian Pines dot the sand. (The park folks don't seem to fond of them, but they look neat, all leaning away from the water and the wind). It has a sort of artistic flair.

Should be a nice breeze coming off the water for the folks who'll be tenting there. You'll be moving little white rocks around, though.

November 28, 2007, PM Report from the Mercury camp... Silkie and Captain Sterling arrived and set up camp. Quarter Master Red Wake [at left] (and his assistants) painted a HUGE freaking banner with the Pub Logo (the little bendy skull with crossed sort of bendy swords) that there is some plan to circulate around the various pirate events at which pub members are in attendance.

I also met Haunting Lily and her husband (Edward O'Keefe) today. Several folks stained the lanterns that Fayma and Tony Callahan bought for the event. Aminjiria brought what I believe is his entire extended family and staked camp. They then proceeded to make food for everyone in the site (except us vegetarians...alas.) Willie Wobble set up the neatest spread I think I have seen (he has a very comfy looking cot). The crew is forming up!

They're planning a Duvall Crawl/advertising campaign tonight in full kit. Unfortunately, I don't have any shoes yet and couldn't scrounge any up, so I am going to dinner at my restaurant in town.

For the record, this picture is the most work Mission did for the production of the banner. ( If I hadn't written that here, I would be forever credited with helping. Darnit.)
